With more than 700 publishers and other sector companies represented, Liber 2008 was the most participative edition yet in the fair’s history.
Over 12,000 trade visitors, 8% more than the previous edition, and numerous business contacts generated moderate optimism in view of the current economic situation. Liber has established itself as the most important trade fair for publications in Spanish.
A feature of Liber is that it alternates each year between Madrid and Barcelona. After next year’s show in Madrid, Liber will be returning to Barcelona in 2010.
The guest culture of honour at this year’s edition was Québec, the French-speaking Canadian province, which planned an extensive programme of cultural activities in Barcelona to publicise its literary, artistic and linguistic situation.
